I really do identify as a faerie — It’s been something that’s been a concious and deeply felt part of my persona for at least seven or eight years.

Lately, depression has reared its ugly head at me just often enough to remind me where I was two years ago. I’m staying head-above-water for now, but I’m cautious.

I love how my metabolism mostly stops when I’m upset. ‘cept I get gas.

PLD’s GNOME menus need help. There’s the good, where everything that shows up is pretty expected, the icons look good:

Then there’s the bad: the text is inane and repetetive. The icons are nearly indistinguishable, and the category itself, “office” is wrong — grandma, writing a letter to her kid, is not thinking of an “office”, she is trying to write a letter. Evolution is not under Internet, like I expect it to be, and it feels like miscelany:

And then there’s the ugly:

All the checks on my desk, entered into the system. One quarter of the office is clean and swept. Half the clutter from it ended up in other parts of the office, and half went in the garbage. Working on this crap. Next up: the dishes, and then maybe I’ll work on my winter coat so I can actually wear it next year, instead of alternately shivering my ass off and being glad the winter was mild.

In another life, I would be a paper pusher. I would own a mug full of pencils, all sharpened perfectly. I would process papers, and each one would get a stamp, stamp, stamp of approval or rejection, and staples would go klunk, chunk, klunk. I’d work happily in a cube, drink too much bad coffee, and argue about who didn’t put enough in the office beverage fund jar.

I guess I’m glad to be me.

I spent the evening doing some collaborative writing one paragraph at a time with doni_dyke01 and apollotiger. It’s a lot of fun, and we have mostly compatible styles, and it’s harder to end up in a rut when other people are pushing the story forward.

Add to that that I’m now playing Chraeron with some people (Join in! We need more players, and it’s just getting started!), my writing creativity is seriously coming back.

I’d like to see PLD’s default GNOME theme not include app icons on the window borders, because most app icons are so damn ugly.
